Bonsai

Incorporating Eastern traditions and Western creativity, this site is dedicated to bringing you the best of both worlds. Bonsai (prounounced as "bone" - "sigh') began in China and was developed as an art form in Japan. Literally translated, bonsai means "tray tree" or tree in a tray or pot.

Bonsai appears in Japanese writings in the early 1300s, even though the practice of growing such trees originated before the 11th century in China, when it was called "penjing".  Today when we use the term "bonsai" we mean "the ancient art of dwarfed, potted trees".

Spring has arrived!

With the arrival of spring, there is so much to do.  New buds have developed on all the "nanas" and it is time to do some trimming.  I began pruning deciduous plants last month and new, smaller buds are alreading appearing.  Still haven't completed all the repotting I wanted to do, so I am offering up some of my 3 year old starters for sale.

With the warmer weather and finally some rain in North Central Florida, be sure to adjust your watering as plants are coming out of dormancy.  Also be on the look out for insects and pests.

Lucky Bamboo

Lucky Bamboo is botanically a water lily known as "Dracaena Sanderiana".  According to ancient Oriental Folklore, Lucky Bamboo plants were given as gifts to friends and loved ones during times of celebration.  A wedding, birth, birthday, housewarming, new business endeavo or just an expression of of wishing someone Good Fortune are all perfect times give gifts of Lucky Bamboo plants. Lucky Bamboo has such popularity because they are so easy to care for, live quite long and have such a powerful significance in the art of Feng Shui.

Lucky Bamboo arrangements are often used as a Feng Shui "cure" to improve different aspects of one's life.  It combines and represents all five of the Feng Sui elements of nature: wood,  earth, water, fire and metal.  The "cure" is determined by the number of bamboo stalks in the arrangement.  We're happy to make custom arrangements for you.  Party/wedding favor orders are welcome and we can also arrange centerpieces for events for purchase or rental.

  Feng Shui

Feng Shui (pronounced "foong shway") is both art and science and has its origins dating back thousands of years. Feng Shui has its roots in the Chinese reverence for nature and the belief in the oneness of all things.  The belief is that the key to living a good life is to reflect on the balance of nature in our daily lives.

The words translate from "Feng" meaning wind and "Shui" meaning water and thus is based around the invisible Chi energy which is carried along by wind and water. Chi is the source of prosperity, harmony, health and honor.  By harmonizing our relationship with nature, we create more positive energy (Chi) which improves our lives.  Since Chi is energy, places where it gathers become rich, full of opportunities and luckier.

Our shop in Florida keeps many items on hand including, Baqua mirrors, crystals, windchimes, lucky red tassel ornaments as well as items for home decor. We also ship and will attempt to locate items for you.
